As Frank sang, there is only one New York. In a city with 14,000 cabs, innumerable black cars, SUV’s the size of small apartment buildings, and one of the finest transit systems in the world, it’s amazing that there are so many new car/truck/SUV/CUV/SAV introductions in Gotham. The New York Auto Show runs from March 29 to April 7, 2013.
Rumoured to appear will be the production version of the new Acura MDX, seen in concept form in Toronto and Detroit. In Toronto, not Detroit, but should appear in the Big Apple: The Nissan JUKE NISMO, with a new face, special interior and likely a few surprises. Subaru is purported to reveal a new hybrid in the XV Crosstrek, a first for the six star company. Chevrolet will ‘freshen’ the look of the Camaro, and we might see the Corvette Stingray Convertible which debuted in Geneva. BMW will unveil the 328d xDrive (which already appeared in Calgary). Infiniti will take the wraps off the former JX in QX60 guise and include a hybrid drivetrain. Let’s hope we’ll see the new Mercedes-Benz CLA, and determine in the sheet metal whether or not there is room for a small four door coupe in the marketplace.
The car business is truly international. Toronto, Geneva, Detroit, Calgary, New York, all since January; the world is getting smaller all the time. We can’t be sure of any of the aforementioned reveals, so watch this space for updates.
